However, navigating local street food requires time and effort. That’s why you should also consider one of the local restaurants that serve a variety of tacos from classic al pastor to the famous Baja fish tacos.
Although I’m a vegan, I had no difficulty sampling tacos in Cabo, because many restaurants can “veganize” tacos on request. After getting questions about my recommendations, I wrote a guide about the best restaurants in town where you can try tacos and other Mexican dishes.

I sourced the best places in downtown Cabo San Lucas, San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo Marina, based on reviews and my own experience. As a vegan, I’m not always able to eat at regular restaurants, but I always ask my friends and fellow travelers about their opinion, when I create these guides.

1. Tacos Gardenias
Tacos Gardenias is a family-run restaurant, that serves typical Mexican seafood dishes, flavorful shrimp, and battered fish tacos near Cabo marina.
Once you get your order of tacos, you can customize them however you like with some toppings (cabbage, jalapeños, onions), zesty sauces and lime.
Don’t forget to order a margarita, lemonade, or hibiscus, to complete your meal.
This restaurant has thousands of happy reviews from clients, who comment on its friendly staff, fair prices, and family-style dining experience.

2. Los Cabos Fish Tacos
Los Cabos Fish Tacos is a no-frills taqueria on the southwest corner of the Cabo Marina. Its small but mighty menu features three things: fried fish taco, grilled fish taco, and quesadilla.
But make no mistake: once you try their food, you will keep coming back for more, like many other travelers, after they discover this place.
Their fish has amazing flavor and corn tortillas come straight from the oven right in front of you.
The tacos come with corn and tortillas. After you get your order, you can add toppings from the bar which has slaws, homemade cilantro and guacamole salsa, cucumbers, pickled red onions, and grilled jalapeños.
All salsas are made in-house, so you might have a tough choice because they are equally delicious.

3. La Galeria Los Cabos
La Galeria is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Cabo San Lucas, located in Cabo Marina. It offers American and Mexican cuisines, with flavorful fish, tacos, ceviche, and tuna tartar.
La Galeria serves happy hour food and vegan dishes with amazing choices like grilled avocado. Although their prices are on the higher end, you will enjoy your food with the views of the Sea of Cortez.

4. Captain Tony’s
An excellent spot for authentic Mexican food, huge margaritas, and mango daiquiri. They have phenomenal seafood and desserts.
The menu at Captain Tony’s includes Baja battered fish tacos, Baja battered shrimp tacos, grilled chicken and grilled shrimp tacos, as well as grilled steak tacos (carne asada).
The guacamole table side prep alone is well worth a stop! If you like seafood, make sure to try seafood stuffed with chile relleno, ceviche, and sashimi.
They also have live music at night and an awesome ambiance with welcoming and friendly staff.

Los Cabos Fish Tacos has a solid five stars on Google Reviews despite its small menu with just three tacos.
What they lack in selection, the staff has perfected in execution and flavors. Their tortillas and ingredients are all made in-house, andthe tacos are phenomenal.
The restaurant runs on cash.

6. Tacos Guss – best taqueria popular with Cabo locals
A casual joint doling out shrimp and meat tacos over a counter, along with crunchy tostadas and mouthwatering burritos, Tacos Guss is a must-visit spot in Cabo.
Tacos Guss is a popular place with locals who come here for authentic tacos, so if you want to avoid tourist traps, this is the place. It serves al pastor, asada, and chicken tacos. And don’t miss out on their salsas!
Once you get your order, you can add cilantro, pico de Gallo, onions, and pickled veggies to your tacos. Tacos are about $3 apiece. The staff speaks some English.

7. Mother Flower – best fish tacos in Cabo
Mother Flower serves some of the best Baja fish tacos in Cabo. It also serves salads and clam chowder. They prepare the battered fish well, and top it off with homemade coleslaw.
They also grill their shells on the flat top, which gives them a nice, smoky flavor. Most staff speak English, so you won’t have a problem placing your order. Although this restaurant is somehwat expensive, it’s worth the higher price tag.

8. La Taquiza Centro
La Taquiza is a staple of the taco scene in Los Cabos that offers amazing food and drinks in a welcoming atmosphere.
After trying tacos made with the catch of the day, don’t miss their mouthwatering enchiladas, fajitas, and quesadillas. They also prepare guacamole right in front of you. I highly recommend their sweet and spicy tamarind salsa.
A big draw of La Taquiza is quirky decor which provides lots of photo opportunities. Its bright pink facade is impossible to miss when you walk on the street. Staff speaks English, and while prices are higher than in local spots, it’s a good spot if you are looking for a more touristy place.

9. Taqueria El Gran Pastor Cabo San Lucas – best late night tacos
An unpretentious taqueria serving excellent tacos, Taqueria El Gran Pastor is a perfect place for late-night tacos, because it’s open until midnight every day.
Although its appearance is not impressive, the flavors are. If you try its tacos, you might want to come back for the second time.
Cash only, but if you only have credit cards, there’s an ATM across the street. Prices are pretty reasonable, with each taco costing 45 Pesos.

10. El Peregrino – a hidden gem in downtown Cabo
One of the hidden gems in downtown Cabo, El Peregrino boasts amazing presentation and excellent customer service.
Begin your meal with a ceviche – you will love it! Continue with a scallop soup, shrimp enchiladas, or tacos.
I recommend their passion fruit mezcal and authentic Baja wines, which are made on the peninsula. If you want to finish your meal with a dessert, try basil and mint ice cream or chocolate brownie.
Make reservations on a weekend, because this place can get busy.

One of the best places for tacos in downtown Cabo San Lucas, 1 and Only Taco is a hidden gem of Cabo’s culinary scene operated by a local family.
One and Only Taco has a simple menu with fish, shrimp, chicken, and beef tacos. They have very reasonable prices (about 50-70 Pesos for each taco, depending on what you get), and friendly staff that will be glad to answer questions.
After getting your tacos, you can enjoy them on the patio or do a to-go order.

La Ricazon is one of the best Mexican restaurants for food and drinks in Cabo This eatery boasts amazing ambiance andculinary delights, and the welcoming staff makes it a fun experience. On some nights, La Ricazon has live music with local bands playing typical Mexican music.
The staff is happy to recommend dishes based on your preferences and dietary needs. They prepare zesty salsa with tomatoes and peppers right in front of you and tortillas made daily by hand. I recommend their tacos, mejillones (mussels) and enchilada.
Their portions are big and they can also make your dishes vegetarian on request.
To top it off, try their margaritas and hand-crafted mezcal shots.
